This is the team of retired seven time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.The Discovery
Channel is the most dominant of all the U.S. based teams as well as one of the most powerful
teams in the world. 2007 marks a restructuring phase for the team to rebuild its stage racing
dominance and has signed eleven new riders. The most notable additions to the team included
the 2006 Giro d’Italia Champion, Ivan Basso, and 2006 Dauphiné Libéré Champion and American
stage racing ace, Levi Leiphemier. Some of Discovery’s other talented additions include: 2004
Olympic silver medalist, Sergio Paulinho, 2006 Giro d’Italia stage winner Tomas Vaitkus, and
third place finisher in the 2005 Tour de France Best Young Rider Competition, Alberto Contador.
